Manganese Phosphating

This is a manganese phosphate-based coating used to reduce friction between sliding ferrous surfaces, providing excellent corrosion resistance and an excellent aesthetic appearance. The resulting color varies from dark gray to black depending on the composition of the material and its surface (mechanical processing and any previous heat treatments).

This type of phosphating is used to treat, for example, gears, transmission organs, hydraulic components and moving parts, since the piece, thus phosphated and appropriately lubricated, has the property of becoming mirror-like quickly, after a few hours of work and of presenting a better surface than that obtainable with a long running-in period.

The product we use guarantees a phosphate coating layer of between 10 and 16 g/m² (corresponding to approximately 5–8 µ).

Any deviations from these values may depend on the level of reactivity of the material. The dimensional increase is approximately 2/3 of the total deposit. In specific cases, we can provide an alternative oil-free finish.
